All I can say is this costume must have been meant to be.
I find this beautiful picture. It's impossible to find full-length CGI renders from the Playstation re-issue of Final Fantasy VI. I also found the fabric. The exact color, and stretchy, and on sale for less than half price. Like I said, meant to be. Just don't ask me what the stuff is called, because I couldn't tell you. I didn't bother finding out names, I just grabbed the bolt and ran.
I used three different patterns for the vest, leggings and belt, but since they're not being made anymore the numbers are kind of irrelevant. ^_^; All were made according to directions, with the addition of some lovely braided trim from the upholstery section. The vest is lined, with a different kind of gold braid and jewels around the neckline. I made my own pattern for the gauntlets, which are also trimmed and bejeweled. (I love this outfit! *^_^*) I already had a purple tank bathing suit that I used for her blouse, and the boots I opted to fake with a pair of brown suede ones because I am lazy. ^_^
I also chose not to do the lacing on her gauntlets and trousers for practical reasons. Do you know what happens if you put eyelets in a form-fitting garment made of stretch fabric? That's right; The fabric pulls away from the eyelet leaving gaping holes. Since this cloth has also been discontinued, I just didn't want to risk it. Accuracy must sometimes give way to practicality. |
