| This one is still "in-process" as the costume has yet to be made. The wings were gifted to my friend, who decided she wanted an outfit to match the wings before she modeled them.
The wings were my very first pair I ever made, and were also part of my senior show. Originally, they were styled after dragonfly wings with each "petal" diagonal to the other, like an X. After the show I decided they needed to be remade with heavier wire because they kept getting bent out of shape. During the re-make I opted to place the upper wings down and over the lower ones, and discovered I liked that better. It reminded me of a bee, hence the name.
Like the other wings on this site, these are sparkle organza over a wire frame. The veining added by hand with fabric paint, and the harness is decorated with pine sprigs, white berries, a poinsettia blossom and glitter. |
